BOTSWANA President Mokgweetsi Masisi has praised mining company Debswana for digging out what is believed to be the world’s third largest diamond.
The 1 098 carat rough diamond was mined at Debswana’s Jwaneng mine on June 1 and presented to the Cabinet in the capital Gaborone this week. Debswana is a joint mining venture between the government of Botswana and De Beers.
Posting on the government’s social media platforms, Masisi said on proceeds from the diamond would be used to advance national development in the country. | African News Agency (ANA)
