Spyware
AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a database with more than 50 000 phone numbers of prominent people was leaked, with the individuals believed to be under surveillance via the Pegasus spyware.
The Guardian reported on an Amnesty International’s Security Lab report, which found the phone numbers belonged to government officials which included South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri, Pakistan’s leader Imran Khan and journalists, lawyers and human rights activists.
AFP reported that Israel has established a commission to review the allegations that the NSO Group’s phone surveillance software was misused.
